About me

My name is Georgie Peters and this blog is an exercise in writing about archaeology to a non-academic/specialist audience during my first year as a PhD student in archaeology at the University of Cambridge. I like archaeology (and some other things as well maybe). My research is focused on a spatial analysis of British Iron Age hillforts in three distinct regions. We often find that politics are reflected in the landscape – I am using this idea to map and explore the spatial relations between hillforts, and the other settlement types during the Iron Age in Britain (c. 800 BC – 43 AD), and see what that can reveal about Iron Age society (if anything!).

The background photo to my blog was taken by me. It is the neolithic Merry Maidens stone circle, in Cornwall.

Disclaimer – all opinions expressed here are my own, and are not reflective of the University of Cambridge, or the archaeology department there. I endeavour to always correctly reference my sources, and if you find I have made a mistake, please don’t hesitate to tell me. In return, I ask that anyone quoting this site gives me due credit in return.

Also come see me on Twitter, although I cannot vouch for an entirely archaeology based content there.
